Living your best life, you know what it means, but where do you start? Lets talk about the basic, practical steps it takes to start living your best life right now!
Living your best life isn’t some cliche or trite saying (although its getting to be quite common and misused/misunderstood). Getting to actually live that best life is something you have to actively work for! If you’re ready and committed to creating the life of your dreams, its time to get to work!
Living Your Best Life: Where do you start?
Go ALL in.
The first step to living the best version of your life is to make a commitment and decide that you’re ALL IN on this journey no matter what it takes! Living your best life isn’t all glitter and glam… it takes hard work, sacrifice and dedication. But believe me, this commitment is truly worth it!
Best Life Tip: Start a new journal! Grab yourself a brand new journal and for your first entry, write out a commitment statement. Date and sign it, and refer back to that first page any time you’re struggling or feeling frustrated!
What does it look like?
What does your best life look like? Where are you living? How do you spend your days? What do you do for work? How do you spend your spare time? Who is in your life? How do you give back to the world around you? How does it feel to live this best life?
Pull out your new best life journal and start writing down the answer to these questions! Get VERY specific and as detailed as possible. This isn’t some fantasy or fictional story you’re writing, it’s an outline of the life you’re going to create for yourself. For some, living their best life includes travel and adventures, for others it’s a slower or more intentional lifestyle. There is no right or wrong answer, it is YOUR life after all, and you get to decide how you’re going to live it!
How will you get there?
The journey from dreaming about your potential best life, to making a decision to start pursuing that life, to actually living your best life is a long and winding road. There will be ups and downs, twists and turns, triumphs and loses… but to navigate this road you need a map!
Once you know what you want your life to look at, you can start to figure out what you need to get there. Do you need more time freedom? More financial stability? Do you need/want to move to a different country? There’s a whole host of questions to ask yourself, but plan it out what you want in detail!
Take these goals and break them down (daunting I know, that’s why I created the Every Day Bosses Hub! Read more about it here!), but you can’t get to where you want to be without a plan!
Best Life Tip: Find yourself an accountability buddy (or join the Hub) and help each other stay on track with your goals, tasks and timelines! Having someone that checks in on you, encourages you and gives you the occasional kick in the pants can make all the difference in the world!
Take your big goal and break it into phases. Take those phases and break them into action steps. Prioritize those action steps and write them down in that order. Next put those steps on your calendar or make time for them a part of your regular routine.
Then start doing those things!
