You’re heard the phrase “Best Life Living” or “Best Life Now” or “Living Your Best Life“… but what does that actually mean?
Living your best life is different for everyone, because everyone’s version of what their best life could be is different. At it’s core “living your best life” boils down to creating and living the life you want, the life of your dreams. It means living up to your potential and making things happen for yourself. No more waiting for “someday”!
A few years ago, “no more someday’s” became something of a mantra for me. I was having a conversation with a friend, we were talking about the things we wanted out of life… I heard myself saying “someday I’ll ____ ” and “someday ____ would be awesome” and “someday it’d be nice to ____”.
Sound familiar perhaps?
Same friend, same conversation, a few minutes later, I said in frustration, “WHY do I have to wait for some day? I want these things NOW!”
In that moment I decided I was done waiting. No more “someday’s”! What ever it took, what ever I had to do, what ever the sacrifice, I was going to make those “someday” things a reality for my life now. I was going to start living my best life, from that moment forward.
And I did.
And I am.
Living your best life also means that as soon as you reach a goal, you set a new one and raise that bar a little bit higher! It’s not a one time thing, or a short term way of living. This way of living requires intentional choices, a commitment to yourself, and a commitment to the things that matter most to you.
What does it take start living your best life?
If you’re ready to start living your best life, here’s the basics of what you need:
Commitment:
To start living your best life you have to be fully committed, ALL in, willing to do whatever it takes to create the life you want. This includes a commitment to your personal growth and development, as well as an openness to explore areas of your life that you need to work on.
Intentionality:
Intentional choices, intentional actions, intentional goals. All a key part of living your best life! It’s more than just picking a specific goal or action to work on, its also about picking the right goal and action that move you forward. Goals and actions that fit your version of you best life and the way you want to spend each day.
Clarity:
To create the life of your dreams, you have to actually know what it is you want! Clarity and a defined idea of what your best life looks like is crucial! Having this clarity will impact the decisions you make, the goals you set and, ultimately, the life you live!
The Right People:
The who in your life is just as important as the what and the why. To live you best life, you may have to edit your circle. The people around you can drastically impact your mental state and the choices you make. It’s hard, sometimes almost impossibly hard, but taking a good long look at the impact the people around you have on your mental state, the choices you make and the life you live is critical. Make a conscious effort to surround yourself with people that encourage you. You need people that make you want to do bigger and better things, that are actively living their best life and inspiring you to do the same! Those are your people, your tribe, your circle!
Gratitude:
Gratitude may be one of the most key elements to living your best life. Not only does a daily gratitude practice keep you grounded, it’s also improve your mood, improve your health, and reduce stress. It’s also a great reminder of how far you’ve come in your journey!
