This article on Passing the Test you’re facing, is a continuation on last weeks article, Obstacle or Test?! Which are you facing?
If you’re looking at your obstacle as a test, an opportunity to either grow and learn new things or the proving ground to show you’re ready for the next level, you’ll need to keep somethings in mind!
Lets talk about the 4 elemental tools you need for passing the test you have ahead of you!
First –
Ask yourself “Is this this obstacle a test or an opportunity to learn a lesson that I’ll need the wisdom, knowledge and experience for a future level?”
If you’re meant to learn something from an obstacle… and you tackle it with the wrong approach or attitude, you’re going to find that you’ll be repeating the scenario at some point in the future. Facing every challenge with a willingness to take it as a learning opportunity is key to rapid, long term growth.
You never know when the lessons you learn now will be key to your future success.
Second –
Look at the obstacle from all sides.
Anytime you’re faced with something unknown and daunting, it helps to take a step back and get a real good look at it. When we’re too close to the obstacle, it can be hard to see it for exactly what it is. Sometimes its not nearly as big as it seems. Other times its bigger than we think, but not as hard as anticipated.
If you’re “nose to nose” with the problem, it’s impossible to properly assess what you need to do. Take a step back, and give everything a good long look.
Third –
Ask for help when you need it.
So here’s the thing… not all obstacles are self explanatory. Heck sometimes they’re down right ambiguous, and all kinds of confusing. When you’re faced with a challenge like this, asking for help, sooner than later, can help you navigate through much faster.
It never hurts to have someone that has walked the same path before help you deal with similar challenges… makes things a million times easier! Learn from them and their wins / losses. It’s far less painful for you in the long run!
Fourth –
Attitude is everything.
Your mental state has as much to do with your success as anything else. If you’re frustrated, bitter and annoyed by the obstacle you face, you’re going to get even more frustrated, bitter and annoyed when your forward movement is delayed. An eager willingness to accept and learn will get you through the test you’re facing faster than just about anything else.
These 4 things may seem elemental, but they’re vital to passing the test you’re facing with flying colors!
